Sanson Institute Of Heraldry Reply

I was searching for my old documents and I found some papers from The Sanson Institute Of Heraldry in Boston from the 1960's. I promised I would post them. Notice the sketch. The description is similar to the one I got at the Arizona State Fair.

Link Deleted

Some of this document is hard to read, so I re-typed it here.

*********************************************

"The Heraldic description of this Coat of Arms is written in the ancient language, which was created by Heralds in the 12th Century AD.

This is completely understandable to a trained Heraldic artist regardless of his country of origin, or the language he speaks.

Therefore, your Coat of Arms cannot be precisely described in English if the Universal graphic result is to be correctly arrived at.

The armorial bearing for your name has been found by the research staff of the Sanson Institute"

***********************************************

This document says we are going back to the 12th Century.
My information is that our family name is much older. Our name probably goes back to an ancient Roman or Etruscan name and was changed by the family when we became Italicized and Italy began to speak modern Italian. For example, our ancestors probably originally spelled their name "Mazela" with only one z and one l.

I am scanning the Heraldry booklet and will post it here soon.

Thanks, this is great. I love heraldry. I am a graphic designer by profession. I would love to make this into an illustration on the computer.

As I promised, I scanned the pages of the pamphlet, all 16 of them, using a flatbed scanner, not a camera. I presume the Sanson Institute went belly up. Enjoy and have fun!

Mark,

Thanks for the information; it's very helpful. 12th century might not be entirely accurate, but that's going back a great deal, which is wonderful!

Hi There!

I did not write that about the 12th Century. I copied it for you to read. The original page is almost illegible.

The document I posted used to say that, but sustained water damage.

I heard our Mazzella name goes back to the 9th Century AD.

PS.

Image 2 and 14 do not seem to work, so I will upload them to another server.
